Summary:

Light, large and completely furnished rooms with small balcony and private bathroom. Each room has a living/dining area, bathroom, small kitchen and bedroom. Facilities include a microwave, electric stove, telephone, fridge, tv, clothes rack, lots of cupboards and storage space, dining table and chairs, hot and cold water, bed sheet, blanket and 2 pillows and cases. Aircon and wifi are available in each room.

There is 1 communal washing machine and clothes dryer on the top floor and a rooftop area outside to hang your clothes (50 baht per wash), or alternatively there are lots of laundry shops nearby in Samsen area that cost approximately 40 baht/kilo, as well as a dry cleaning service in the nearby Nouvo City Hotel.

Facilities and surrounding area:

There is not much in the immediate vicinity around Alameda except some street food stalls, a fresh fruit and veg market, 7-11 and the popular seven spoons restaurant. However, it is around a 20 min walk from Samsaen area which has a lot more amenities/interns. It is 5 min walk to the Phanfa Klong Boat pier.

Price:

Rent – 12,900 Baht/month (UN Intern rate)
Wifi – 990 Baht/month
Room Cleaning – 800 Baht/clean
Deposit – 1 months rent plus 20,000 Baht (retuned upon check out)
Water – 19 Baht/unit
Electricity – 5.75 Baht/unit
Roughly Monthly Expenditure – Approx. 14,000 Baht/month

Advantages:

  • Nice, clean and spacious apartments
  • Cookware, crockery etc. can be rented from Alameda directly (albeit it rather expensively, see website)
  • Air con and wifi available in the rooms
  • Daily/monthly room rates also available
  • Excellent location close to UN
  • Guests allowed at your own discretion and may stay for a relatively long period of time

Disadvantages:

  • No swimming pool
  • Difficult to catch reception staff (due to working hours), didn’t find them to be particularly helpful or understanding
  • Have to pay 800 Baht cleaning fee on checkout
  • Difficult for taxi drivers to find, especially first time from the airport (bring map/telephone number and address in Thai!)
  • Expensive for what it is – you can probably find a condo with more facilities in the centre for this price

Intern Tips:

Rooms on the left and right hand side are slightly different in layout and size; ask to see one of each before deciding on a room. Personally I found those on the left hand side of the building were nicer.

Try the street food stall on the LHS at the end of the soi (UN direction), great food!

Distance to UN:

Approximately 5 minutes walk.
